*How to Remove Gout and Joint Pain (Uric Acid and Crystals)*

Gout, a type of arthritis, is caused by a build-up of uric acid in the body which leads to formation of uric acid crystals in and around the joints. This eventually results in an attack of pain and inflammation in one or more joints.

If you are a gout sufferer, the chances are your doctor will prescribe Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID’s) or other medications to reduce the urate levels.

aaaa If you are not willing to risk your health by taking medications which are associated with a wide range of side effects, check out the recommendations below.

It’s All About The P’s: Purines And Proteins
Some foods are high in purines, naturally occurring substance which is turned into uric acid in the body.  They are actually essential in the body: Two of the five bases in nucleic acids, adenine and guanine, are  purines.

Problems arise when we eat high protein diets.  Some of the richest sources of purines include red meat, organ meat, herring, salmon, sardines and other oily fish.  As for plant source, peas, lentils, and beans are the richest in this substance.

Alcohol
The risk of developing gout is affected by the amount of alcohol you drink.  Port and red wine have been heavily associated with gout for a long time.  But, according to a 2004 study published in the Lancet, beer increased the risk of gout more than other alcoholic beverages.

Fructose
The body is not able to use fructose directly, so it has to turn it into glucose prior using it as fuel source.  Uric acid is produced along the way, which then contributes to high uric acid levels which interfere with the production of nitric oxide, a compound that promotes stable blood pressure levels.  Another problem with fructose is that it is actually converted into LDL, which is then stored as fat.

Note: These dangers shouldn’t be confused with fructose in fruit, as the fiber in fruit slows down the absorption and never creates any problems in the system.

Food & Drink For Preventing & Reversing Gout
Introduce cherries and pineapple to your diet, both of which are great at excreting excess uric acid out of the system. Low sugar cherry juice works too.
Bilberries, blackberries, and blueberries are effective at reducing uric acid levels due to their high flavonoid content.
While prunes are naturally acid forming, they are also helpful for metabolizing uric acid out of the body.
Eat plenty of fruits and veggies, like celery, sweet potatoes, brown rice, and amaranth.
Try a morning smoothie made of ingredients like pear, apple, cherries, pineapple, ginger, and chlorella.
Drink plenty of water on a daily basis.
Food To Avoid
If you have gout avoid beet, cheese, and meat.
Avoid high purine and high protein foods like chicken, lobster, oily fish, shellfish, and crab. Limit plant based sources like kidney beans, lentils, porridge and yeast-based drinks like Bovril.
If you are prone to gout attack, cut down full fat cheeses like Stilton and Brie.
