*Prohibited Foods When You Have Liver Damage ( Cirrhosis )*

The liver Damage cirrhosis occurs by chronic damage caused by the prolonged illness of the liver due to infection with hepatitis B or C, or alcoholism, mainly.

When suffering from cirrhosis, the person usually feels fatigue, lack of appetite, weight loss, nausea, abdominal pain and small “spiders” in the skin, which really are small blood vessels. As the disease progresses, there is fluid retention in the legs, yellow skin, redness in the palms of the hands, sexual impotence, shrinkage of the testicles and swelling of the breasts.

Once the disease has been detected, it is important to give timely treatment and make changes in lifestyle, especially in food.

Ramón Iván de Dios Pérez, a doctor of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Jalisco, indicates that sausages, red meats, and seafood should be avoided completely in cases of cirrhosis or liver failure since they have a high nitrogen content.

He explained that the problem is that these foods are not metabolized by the liver, which causes disorientation, personality changes, loss of hand movements and in severe cases coma.

Hepatic encephalopathy
The specialist indicated that this condition is known as hepatic encephalopathy, which arises from the accumulation of ammonia in the body, which directly affects the nervous system.

If this clinical picture is not treated in time, he said, a state of drowsiness can advance to a state of drowsiness in which the patient no longer wakes up and even to a coma.

He pointed out that hepatic encephalopathy is completely preventable if a diet is taken according to medical indications.

“(Encephalopathy) occurs in patients with hepatic impairment, which can be caused either by chronic alcoholism, by hepatitis B or C infections, or by autoimmune conditions. There are patients of 12 or 13 years of age who have cirrhosis as a result of these last two causes, but also others of 20 years who, due to alcoholism, already present it, “he said.

Watch your liver!

He explained that when the liver cannot adequately fulfill its functions, there is a hardening that favors the accumulation of fat in that organ, difficulty to metabolize food, problems of coagulation and a predisposition to varicose veins in the esophagus and legs, as well as to develop the hemorrhoidal disease.

He stressed that liver cirrhosis can be prevented by doing the following:

-Not consuming alcohol in excess
-Avoid self-medication
-Protect yourself from viral hepatitis, especially types B and C
-Avoid risky sexual practices.
